I found my love in Portofino is a famous song composed in Liguria by Buscaglione and his friend Leo Chiosso. The song was an incredible success on an international level. Today, I’d like to dedicate this song to David & Nicola – the young British couple. Why? Because their proposal took place in this picturesque harbour on the Italian Riviera.
When David contacted me he wrote that he would like the proposal to be special – proposal that she will never forget! His idea was to have it on the side of a river or beach or boat ride. After some months of conversation with David we came to the conclusion. David and Nicola were planning their vacation in Italy visiting Italian Riviera and so we were playing with the idea if to propose in Cinque Terre or Portofino. He pictured his proposal on the boat with the backdrop of the colorful houses so after some consideration, David opted for a proposal in Portofino. His decision was definitely excellent.
Our plan was as follows:
- convince Nicola to go for a boat tour
- start the tour in Santa Margherita Ligure and go to Portofino on a private typical Ligurian wooden boat “gozzo”
- meeting a private photographer in Portofino (we told Nicola that the photographer is included in the tour)
- continue the boat tour with the photographer
- arrive at the spot where David gives some Portofino postcards saying some personal love quotes
- David drops down on one knee and proposes
- we included a bouquet made of favorite Nicola’s flowers
- extra photos in Portofino
- romantic lunch

After a few minutes on the boat, David gave some Portofino postcards to Nicola where he wrote personal love quotes
On the last one, David wrote: Nicola, Will You Marry Me?
Of course, Nicola’s answer was YES!
