Rome has many rooftop terraces but only some of them offer a breathtaking view over the eternal city. One I love a lot is the terrace in the Hotel Cavalieri, a Waldorf Astoria Resort and I was so happy to share with you a surprise marriage proposal I planned to this sweet couple from USA.
When I was contacted by Ryan, this lovely Chinese guy, I was told that he had a hotel reservation in the luxury hotel: Hotel Cavalieri and a table reservation at the La Pergola Restaurant – one of the best Michelin star restaurants in Rome. Ryan and his girlfriend Jilliana were visiting Rome towards the end of July and Ryan was trying to figure out his plans to propose to Jilliana. He wanted some input and possibly assistance from my side.
Proposing in the restaurant could seem old-fashioned or traditional but what if you want your proposal romantic and intimate with a nice view? Well, you might don’t know but right next to the restaurant there is this lovely terrace which we hired for an exclusive use just to make the proposal special and private. On the day of the proposal, Jilliana thought she was going out for dinner so she dressed nicely. Once they got ready, they left their hotel room, took the lift to reach the rooftop restaurant where I met them. I played the part of the hotel staff and told them to follow me just to take some nice pictures from the terrace before dinner. Jilliana said yes to my offer and I slowly brought them towards the proposal spot where I decorated a table with some personal items and a Marry Me box. To spice it up, we had a violinist playing the love songs, too.
When Jilliana realized what was happening she couldn’t believe her eyes.
Ryan got down on one knew and popped the question. Did Jilliana say yes? Oh yes, she did indeed.
