Just before Christmas time, Ivan contacted me saying that he is coming to visit different cities in the north of Italy with his beautiful girlfriend Lera. They both travelled by car from Ukraine and stopped in Milan for the first two nights. Ivan’s idea was to surprise Lera on her birthday with an engagement ring. Our plan was to transform their hotel room into a romantic and cozy place with balloons and a Will You Marry Me sign. How we did it?
Ivan invited Lera for aperitif and dinner on her birthday. In this way Lera couldn’t have any suspicion that we were planning something special. While they were sipping a drink in a lounge bar with a view of Duomo cathedral, I got inside the room and started to decorate it. I used gold and red balloons on the floor and red heart shaped balloons on the ceiling. I put some fairy lights on the sign to make it visible and two big gold balloons next to it. On the large table I put some flowers, rose petals and some items such as photos, love box, macaroons, ….
The atmosphere was really romantic. Definitely surprising!
The next part of the plan was to get Lera back to the hotel room between the aperitif and dinner. We found a good excuse to make them get back. On their arrival, everything was ready. Ivan opened the door and let Lera to enter first.

Ivan got down on one knee and popped the question. Lera said YES!

After the proposal, we went out to take some photos at the piazza del Duomo.
And finally we went to the restaurant as promised.
