Yohan came to me with the hope to create a spectacular proposal where we could include a helicopter ride and I couldn’t be happier to turn his dream proposal into reality. He traveled to Rome with his partner Dimitri, his cousin, cousin’t wife and their little son André. He was clear not to have a ‘stereotype gay’ proposal so what did we do to make it super special?
We booked a helicopter ride for the whole group. In this way Dimitri had no reason to think that there was something special we prepared for him. The group departed from the small private airport in Rome, where I had one photographer who also put a GoPro camera inside the helicopter and took a few pictures from the moment before the departure.

Look at the below picture on the left side where Yohan showed the engagement ring to the photographer and Dimitri didn’t notice anything. How funny was that!
While the group was at the airport in Rome, the second photographer and I reached the location where the helicopter was supposed to land and where Yohan had to propose. This private venue was located by the Lake Bracciano which is situated just a short distance from Rome.
On one side of the villa, we prepared a light lunch and some drinks to celebrate this memorable day. On the other side of the villa, we waited for the group to welcome them and guide them to the proposal spot.
To make this proposal more personal, I had Yohan to write down a few words which we wrote on a nice piece of paper by a professional calligrapher. This was a love letter, Yohan read to Dimitri before going down on one knee.
When the helicopter landed, they all reached the spot where we had a violinist playing some romantic songs and where André could throw some rose petals around the couple while reading the love letter. It was such a lovely idea to have André included in this moment. What do you think?
Oh yes, look at the caps Yohan brought from home! Dimitri’s one says: I said YES! and the other ones say: He said YES!
Here they are! The newly-engaged couple and the cutest same-sex parents. Congratulations!
Once we finished taking the engagement photos, we took a break to celebrate with a fresh bottle of prosecco.
I must say, this was not the classical proposal we normally see. This was a truly meaningful and thoughtful proposal I have ever done. You really deserve the best in your lives, guys. Good luck!
