People like me who work in travel and tourism can’t miss an important fair in Milan – BIT 2015, The International Tourism Exchange – an event that brings together tour operators from all over the world, travel lovers, press, etc. My target here was to get information and useful contacts from destination providers in Italy and then make the selection in order to provide the best service to my future clients. There were more than 1.500 international and Italian hosted buyers and more than 2.000 companies aiming to promote Italian excellence.
The Annual Tourism Congress was one of the most relevant features at Bit as well. I participated on one of them called WEDDINGS IN ITALY – CAPTURING NORTH AMERICAN WEDDING BUSINESS organized by Renée Strauss (BIT Ambassador). Honestly, I hadn’t heard of Renée before but when I entered the room, sat down and listened to her I was like – yes, I’m at the right place and at the right time. I listened to her story about her business, how she started, who she was and what she had done to grow up her business. It was amazing. I realized everything is possible. At some point, she had taken some steps in her life that changed her business completely. And this made her famous. She confirmed that if you want to be someone you have to risk in some way and do some ‘crazy’ acts you would never think to do. Renée also revealed some major aspects of creating an American wedding in Italy. I now know how fundamental is to know the culture of your clients when organizing a big event such is a wedding. Studying the couple in detail and their needs is essential. Making your clients happy is when you make their dreams reality.
