Darson & Kimberly - Vintage car marriage proposal in Rome

Experience of Rome on board of a vintage car with a private driver who is also your personal photographer is definitely something to consider when visiting the Eternal city for the first time.

Darson & Kimberly, were planning a vacation to Rome and Darson wanted to make it a trip to remember by asking Kimberly to marry him. He knew he wanted a romantic and private proposal with no audience as Kimberly is a bit shy. We planned a lovely surprise on the Appian Way, which is one of the earliest and strategically most important Roman roads of the ancient republic. Although it’s one of the best attractions in Rome, much of the Appian way sits outside the city, far from the traffic and chaos. The Appian way is pretty long so having a private car permitted us to stop on a perfect spot with less tourists and total peace. Our plan was to make Kimberly think that she is going on a vintage car tour around Rome. That was also a perfect excuse to avoid any suspicion.

Our plan was:

rent a vintage car
plan an itinerary to see the city’s most iconic places
take some photos before getting on the proposal spot
bring the couple on the Appian way
prepare a small picnic basket while the couple is taking the photos around the Appian Way
have a surprise box ready with an engagement ring in it
propose

I told Darson to meet me and the driver near Colosseum. When we met, I presented myself as a member of the team of the tour and we started with some photos around the area we could reach with the car.

Here, Kimberly didn’t have any idea of what we actually had in mind:

1st stop: Colosseum, Arch of Constantine

2nd stop: Orange Garden

3rd stop: Secret Key Hole

4th stop: Proposal spot – Appian Way

When we reached the proposal spot, we parked the car on a tranquil place and I told the couple to walk along the road with the photographer in order to take some memorable pictures.

While they were taking the photos I prepared a small picnic surprise so when the couple got back, they could enjoy some chocolate and a bottle of fresh prosecco. Kimberly didn’t know that there was also a big surprise waiting for her – a box with some photos of their relationship and love quotes. The last picture was a ‘Kimberly, Will You Marry Me?‘ note with an engagement box underneath.
