Don’ts for an Unforgettable Marriage Proposal

Ready to propose? Then don’t make one of these common marriage proposal mistakes.

LAST MINUTE

Not spending enough time on your preparation may lead to a total disaster. It can take months of intense preparation. Naturally, preparations depend on whether you want something elaborate or low-key.

PROPOSAL OUTFIT

Dress well! Be sure, your fiancé-to-be wants to look beautiful on the pictures. Don’t wear flip-flops, or an old sweaty T-shirt … Make sure your love feels and looks her best for the big day! Before your departure have a friend take her to get her nails done, plan a surprise new outfit for her, and make an excuse for her to dress up without revealing your plan.

NO PHOTOS

This is a number one mistake. I always advise my clients that engagements photos are a must. At the end you’ll still need them for sharing the unforgettable experience of your surprise proposal. Especially, when you prepare for a destination marriage proposal when your significant one has no idea of the upcoming engagement. She would definitely want to keep some photo memories of her emotions when you popped the question.

BLABBING ABOUT THE PLAN

It’s not only because your family or friends spoil the surprise but imagine how unhappy she would be if everybody knew about the engagement before her. Let her surprise them! And if you need helpers. Just make sure they can be trusted not to tell anyone and also not to spill the beans on social media

MAKING IT BORING

Engagement needs emotions. And emotions are in details so don’t rush with the question and create something very special. Don’t let her feel disappointed. There is no second chance guys. Take some extra time if needed!

CHOOSING THE WRONG PERIOD OF THE YEAR

If your idea is to propose under the sun or on the lake, don’t get to Italy in winter. Winter period is perfect for the indoor or snowy proposals. On the contrary, summer would be ideal for outdoor proposals just as terrace overlooking the city or on the beach with a breathtaking sunset.

PROPOSING IN PUBLIC

Don’t plan something elaborate or over-the-top involving a large crowd of people if you know she would feel embarrassed. Not everyone likes being the center of attention. Go with an idea that fits with her personality.

RUSHING ABOUT THE WORDS

Don’t go straight – ‘Will you marry me?’! Prepare a short and sweet monologue. Say her name first and tell her how much you love her. I know there are million ways to say that but try to speak from the bottom of your heart. Talk slowly, be clear and breath. http://creativeproposalideas.net/proposal-tips/what-do-i-say-when-i-propose/

EMPTY YOUR POCKETS

This one is for you guys! Don’t carry around wallets, keys, and cell phones in the pants pockets. Even when you don’t think they will show up in photos, they do!
